Club Record in Sweden

Sammy has returned to the UK from Sweden after representing England as a guest in the Swedish indoor combined events championships in Stockholm with a new club record of 5,760 points.

At the meeting Sammy was slightly down on his 60m and 60m hurdles best clocking 7.04 secs and 8.38 secs respectively. In high jump, with his new run up, he completed an indoor season best of 1.97m, six centimetres off his personal best set in 2023.

After two no throws, Sammy’s shot put was significantly down at 13.65m. His training is going well and he is not too worried about the overall direction of travel in that event. It would have been nice to gain an extra hundred points or more by attaining the distances he is achieving in training, however.

In the long jump, with 7.21m, Sammy was two centimetres off his outdoor personal best and indeed set a new indoor best. His new eighteen stride approach is likely to develop further in the run up to his first outdoor decathlon this year in Austria at the end of May.

In the pole vault Sammy improved his personal best by two centimetres to 4.62m on his current ten stride approach. The team is already working at an improved run up.

In the final event, 1,000m, Sammy was slightly down on his personal best and crossed the line in 2:41.08 mins leading to an overall third position in the competition.
